November 8th, 2016 changed us. That night, the country we thought we knew suddenly seemed like a much different, much darker place. We had always known that progress is never a straight line, but we believed that after all the zigs and zags and steps in the wrong direction we'd eventually get to a place of equality, tolerance, and liberty. Now, under an administration that is rapidly destroying and dismantling the things we believe to be good and true, we know we can no longer make that assumption. We can no longer sit back and hope things work themselves out. We have to stand up, and we have to fight — every single day.

As part of that fight we've created Project Resist, which we hope will serve as a resource and motivator for those who share our belief that our future depends on ordinary people like us taking all possible actions to stand up for one another. We hope these little pieces of resistance can serve as daily reminders and signs of solidarity to keep going in the face of overwhelming adversity. We are under no delusion that pins will change the world, but we do acknowledge that change often starts small and symbols can be powerful.

"Objects carry meaning in difficult times — more totems are found in societies who had more trauma." — Celine Semaan, Fashion Activist & Founder Slow Factory

Because thoughtful patrons are funding the production of the pins, we'll be able to donate 100% of the money Project Resist to a different organization each month. (With a multitude of vulnerable groups threatened by bigotry and ignorance, we know we can't focus on only one specific issue.) We'll also be on the lookout for new resources to share and to build and inclusive roster of designers who can help create more signs of resistance, so sign up to receive a truly occasional email or check in often.
